About Dar
Dar is Jacob’s favorite musical artist and we feel blessed that she has agreed to perform at the Pyramid House. She is remarkable at bringing her full self to each moment. Brilliantly expressing a broad range of perspectives, she poignantly brings joy to real life. As Dar notes, "Real happiness doesn’t have to feel like Snoopy dancing with Woodstock; it can just be knowing that you have the resilience to meet whatever comes to you. I will call that a good life." Williams’ lyrics contain bouquets of optimism, delivered on melodies alternating between beguiling lightness and understated gravity. Hendrik Hertzberg of The New Yorker has described Williams as "one of America’s very best singer-songwriters."
Dar’s albums include The Beauty of the Rain (2003), My Better Self (2005), Promised Land (2008), Many Great Companions (2010), In the Time of Gods (2012), Keeping Me Honest, Emerald, and two live albums, Out There Live (2001), and Live at Bearsville Theater (2007). Her latest album, I’ll Meet You Here, will be coming out on Oct 1.
Williams’ latest book, Writing a Song That Matters, is titled after the songwriting retreats she began conducting in 2013.
Dar Williams’ better known songs include "The Mercy and the Fallen," "The Beauty of the Rain," "The Christians and the Pagans," "Iowa," and others. (Learn more about Dar and her music by visiting Dar’s website.)
